Wally West struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.7lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. This should be fireworks!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
West swings for the body but Melendez moves out of range.

Melendez moves into the clinch.
Melendez keeps the fight in the clinch, despite West's efforts to push away.
Melendez lands a right hand that snaps the head of West backwards.
West has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

West manages to break the clinch.
Melendez wants to clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Melendez lands with a short shot to the head.
Melendez lands a shot to the body.
Melendez lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Melendez swings wildly with an uppercut but West uses good head movement to avoid it.
Melendez doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
West is trying to break the clinch but Melendez has him pressed against the ropes.
West is trying to force a seperation but Melendez has the dominant position.
Melendez throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Wests head.
Melendez misses with a punch on the inside.
Melendez pushes West against the ropes. Melendez is working some dirty boxing. Melendez pushes off with a quick right hook! West goes down! West tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Melendez moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
