PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ivan Priebcko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and B A Ware (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Priebcko comes into the arena with Sweet Dreams blaring out of the sound system. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Ivan Priebcko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, B A Ware!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Alyssa Summers and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Priebcko misses.
Ware lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Priebcko takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
A looping hook to the body misses from Priebcko. Ware does a little dance to reset his feet.
Despite the aggression on Ware's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Ware throws a looping overhand right but Priebcko ducks down to avoid it.
Ware connects with a solid leg kick.
Priebcko fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ware manages to avoid it.
Ware uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Priebcko.
Ware now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Priebcko tries a head kick but it misses.
Ware has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Ware misses with a hook.
B A Ware seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Ware counters with a slapping leg kick.
Priebcko swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Priebcko feints and then cracks Ware's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Ware down.
Ware lands a leg kick that knocks Priebcko off balance momentarily.
Priebcko moves out of range of the body kick from Ware.
Priebcko throws a body shot but no joy.
Ware misses with a hook.
Ware misses with a wild body shot.
Priebcko ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Ware throws an overhand right that lands on Priebcko's shoulder, as Priebcko tries to avoid the shot.
As Ware backs away, Priebcko returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.

and Priebcko counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Ware misses with a combination
enabling Priebcko to counter with a crisp jab.
Ware takes one on the button.
Priebcko looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Priebcko's corner calls for a 1-2. Priebcko obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Priebcko throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Priebcko takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Some bone on bone action there as Ware checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Priebcko backing away here, and Ware unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
A slow jab from Ware misses its intended target.
An attempted straight right counter from Priebcko misses the target.
Priebcko wants to clinch up but Ware keeps it at a distance.
Ware doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Priebcko fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Ware has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Priebcko moves out of range as Ware throws a body kick.
Priebcko tries to clinch up but Ware circles away and keeps his distance.
Priebcko scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ware doesn't seem bothered though.
Priebcko's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Ware connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Priebcko scrambles back to his feet.
Ware throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Priebcko counters with a left to the body.
Ware throws a shot from downtown. Priebcko moves away and avoids it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Priebcko pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Priebcko throws a hook to the side of Ware's head but Ware sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ware stalks Priebcko and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Priebcko's face. Priebcko staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like Ivan Priebcko has been cut.
A nice inside leg kick there by Priebcko. That's going to slow Ware down.
Ware lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Priebcko tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ware was well out of range. Poor timing from Priebcko.
Priebcko lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Ware throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
It looked like Priebcko was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Ware.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Priebcko here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ware tries to score with a low kick but Priebcko moves his leg out of the way.
Ware uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Priebcko.

Priebcko takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Ware goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Priebcko looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

The fighters circling - Ware throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Priebcko misses with an uppercut
and Ware counters with a straight right hand.

A head kick lands from Ware that sends Priebcko to the canvas. Priebcko tries to scramble back to his feet but Ware brings him back down into side control.

Ware trying to control the action but Priebcko is working from the bottom.
Priebcko tries to improve position but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Priebcko seems a little lost for a moment, as Ware dominates the positioning.
Priebcko is looking for a sweep.
Priebcko gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Priebcko is looking for a sweep. Ware is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Priebcko has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ware is working away from the top position though.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Priebcko throws a lazy right hand but Ware sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ware throws a push kick but Priebcko slaps the foot to one side.
Ware takes one to the chin there.
Priebcko tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

The fighters circle momentarily. Priebcko darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Ware turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Priebcko trying to control the position but instead, Ware has worked for underhooks and has pushed Priebcko into the cage.

Ware breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ware throws a poor cross that misses
and Priebcko counters with a stiff right hand.
Priebcko dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Ware. That did some damage!

and Ware counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

B A Ware showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Ivan Priebcko's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Ware will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Ware buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Priebcko is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Ware rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Priebcko moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Ware unleashes a big counter combination but Priebcko bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Priebcko ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Priebcko cracks Ware with a good jab.
Priebcko dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Ware throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Ware throws a big shot that misses.
Ware uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Priebcko.
Ware shapes to counter with a head kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!

B A Ware comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Ware has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
