PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Dontae Sheldon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Momoshiro Kitsune (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sheldon comes into the arena with Salmon Song blaring out of the sound system. Kitsune is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by 僕はミス・テイク~. Momoshiro Kitsune told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dontae Sheldon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 13 - 1, fighting out of London, Momoshiro Kitsune!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kitsune takes one to the chin there.
Sheldon throws a leg kick but Kitsune checks it.
Sheldon slips a jab and a cross from Kitsune.
Kitsune moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Sheldon gets caught flat footed, as Kitsune shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Sheldon will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Kitsune stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sheldon swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Momoshiro Kitsune seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kitsune closes the distance and clinches up with Sheldon, looking for a takedown. Kitsune pushes Sheldon against the cage but Sheldon circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kitsune's coach down at SWF GYM - JUDO 'n' MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Kitsune's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Sheldon throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kitsune stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Kitsune dives in and grabs Sheldon's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sheldon pushes down on Kitsune's head and hops out.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Kitsune gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Kitsune walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Sheldon lands a nice hook to Kitsune's body. Kitsune takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Kitsune shoots in looking for a takedown but Sheldon manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kitsune's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Sheldon, as that shot connected.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Kitsune displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Sheldon throws out the jab.
No luck for Kitsune with that takedown attempt.
Sheldon appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

Sheldon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kitsune can do to turn this around?
Kitsune is breathing heavily.
Kitsune takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
