Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Joan Lester!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jan Breek!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Breek closes the distance and clinches.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Breek.
Lester gets underhooks to prevent Breek's takedown attempt.
Breek tries to score a body lock takedown but Lester shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Breek's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Breek moves into the clinch successfully.

Breek darts in and clinches Lester up against the cage.

Breek connects with a solid leg kick.
Breek shoots in for a takedown but Lester shows good takedown defense.

Breek tries for a takedown but Lester sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Breek gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Breek breaks the clinch.

Lester closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Breek quickly recovers to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lester is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Breek manages to get to full guard.

Breek is controlling Lester's posture.
Lester landing some decent shots from guard.
Lester controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Lester seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Breek for as long as he can get away with.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Breek is trying to trip Lester. He has hold of a leg but Lester is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Breek persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Lester really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Lester working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Breek doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Breek manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Lester is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Breek with a flurry of punches that miss.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jan Breek dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Breek closes the distance and clinches up with Lester, looking for a takedown. Breek pushes Lester against the cage but Lester circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Breek has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Lester is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Joan Lester has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jan Breek.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Breek has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Lester avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Breek breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Breek throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Lester.
Breek tries a head kick but it misses.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Lester is defended easily by Breek.

Breek has his takedown stuffed
and Lester counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Breek is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Breek is breathing heavily.
Breek looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Lester will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A combination from Breek does no damage.
Lester slaps away a takedown attempt from Breek, before circling back to the center of the mat.

and Lester moves into the clinch.

Lester lands with a light punch inside.
Lester jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Breek walks away with a smile on his face. Lester gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Lester displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Breek.

Joan Lester overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Lester content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Lester lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Lester tries for a kimura but Breek is defending well.
Lester is staying tight to Breek's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Lester tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Lester happy to just control the position for now.

Lester tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lester has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Breek is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Lester is controlling him well.

Lester thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joan Lester dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



Breek moves into the clinch.
Breek has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Lester after a bit of a struggle.
Breek can't break the clinch.
Breek jumps guard but Lester stands there with Breek around his waist. Breek gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lester is stalling in the full guard.

Lester won't allow Breek to sweep him here.
Lester wants to get up but he can't break Breek's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Breek wants to sweep here but Lester controlling him for the moment.
Lester's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Lester content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Breek trying to keep a closed guard but Lester is proving a slippery customer.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Breek fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Breek takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Breek throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lester sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Joan Lester has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jan Breek.

and Lester counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Lester winds up and cracks Breek with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Lester is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Breek can do to turn this around?

Lester will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Lester is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Breek is just riding it out for now. Lester eventually gives up the hold.

Lester scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Lester content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Lester is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Lester is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Breek has managed to free his arm - good work.
Breek trying to control but Lester postures up.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lester with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Breek slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Lester's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

And that's the end of the fight!
Joan Lester showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Lester has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
