Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Luff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ayo Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ayo Edgar is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Brandon Luff!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ayo Edgar!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Edgar.
Luff thows a left - swing and a miss!
Brandon Luff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Edgar throws a hook but Luff avoids it easily.
Edgar shoots in looking for a takedown. Luff tries to sprawl out of it but Edgar keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Luff manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Luff closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Luff misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Edgar can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Luff is working Edgar over with some ground and pound from side control.

Edgar is refusing to be controlled, as Luff sits in half guard.

Edgar really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Luff. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Luff controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Edgar controls Luff momentarily but Luff frees himself.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Luff looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Luff dives in for a single leg takedown but Edgar sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Edgar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Edgar with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Luff to score with a decent uppercut.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Luff cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
