Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kim Jong Un (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksandr Karelin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jong Un comes to the cage accompanied by DPRKorean National Anthem. Aleksandr Karelin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kim Jong Un!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksandr Karelin!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Wagner Zegers and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karelin throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Karelin tries to bum rush Jong Un with a series of wild strikes but Jong Un uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
No joy there for Jong Un, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Karelin misses with a series of wild punches.
Jong Un thinks about countering with a head kick.
Jong Un showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Karelin.

Jong Un closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jong Un lands a decent elbow from side control.

Jong Un goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Karelin has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Jong Un but great work by Karelin.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Karelin passes Jong Un's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Jong Un is positioning himself well to prevent Karelin advancing to mount.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Jong Un is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Karelin pulls his head out easily.
Karelin slips a nice elbow through Jong Un's hands, connecting with Jong Un's forehead.
Karelin is keen to just control but Jong Un is a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Karelin throws a right and a left that Jong Un avoids nicely.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Karelin tried to score with a low kick but Jong Un checks it.
Karelin walks into a jab.
Karelin misses with the combination.
Jong Un is looking to counter with head kicks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Jong Un in particular looking to stall.

Kim Jong Un overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Karelin tries to control but Jong Un manages to take his back.
Jong Un has the hooks in. Karelin is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Jong Un tries to get the hooks in deep but Karelin pushed the leg off.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

The fight stays on the outside here - Jong Un looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jong Un shoots in and drives through. Karelin sprawls well.

Jong Un tries to score a power double leg takedown but Karelin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jong Un somewhat.

Karelin escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jong Un avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Jong Un moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.


It looks like Aleksandr Karelin has been cut.
Kim Jong Un seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Karelin moves into range and clinches up with Jong Un.
Karelin throws a head punch that misses.
A short body shot lands from Karelin as the two fighters clinch.
Jong Un tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Karelin's elbow.

Karelin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Karelin lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Jong Un manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Karelin on his heels. He'll look to pass Karelin's guard now, I'm sure.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Karelin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jong Un manages to get himself to full guard.


Karelin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jong Un is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Karelin, into his guard.

Jong Un is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Karelin has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Karelin holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Jong Un tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kim Jong Un.
I think Jong Un has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Kim Jong Un spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
