Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cameron Woolley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Van Rutten!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutten throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Woolley's head.


It looks like Cameron Woolley has been cut.

Rutten gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Woolley drops back looking for a leg! Rutten is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Rutten manages to kick Woolley off! Woolley jumps back into Rutten's guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Woolley passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Woolley tries for a kimura but Rutten is defending well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Woolley is looking to take a break and control but Rutten is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Woolley tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Woolley has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Rutten tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Rutten manages to work his way to half guard, despite Woolley's best efforts.

Woolley is working for a submission of some sort.
Rutten moves into full guard.
Rutten really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Woolley. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rutten throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Woolley content to stall in guard here.
Rutten looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Rutten is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Woolley trying to control but Rutten is working from the bottom.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Woolley wants to control from the top but Rutten keeps moving.
Woolley stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rutten swivels though and keeps the full guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Woolley shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Rutten throws a sloppy head kick and Woolley moves out of range easily.
Rutten lands a head kick!
Cameron Woolley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Woolley tries to clinch there but Rutten circles away.
Rutten tries for a takedown but Woolley sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Woolley tries to close the distance and clinch but Rutten swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Woolley changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rutten tries to avoid it but Woolley manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rutten to the ground. Rutten escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Woolley blocks a head kick by Rutten.
Woolley shoots for a double leg takedown but Rutten sprawls well. He's pushed Woolley's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Cameron Woolley. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rutten tries a head kick but it misses.
Rutten looks gassed!

Woolley shoots in and bounces Rutten off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Woolley forces his way into half guard.
Woolley uses his free foot to push down on Rutten's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rutten.
Rutten is working to get back to half guard.
Woolley mounts Rutten! Really nice guard pass there!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Woolley moves to back control.

Woolley is persistently looking for the submission but Rutten is defending it well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Woolley is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Woolley working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Rutten is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Woolley has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Rutten taps out!
