PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Teodoro Sawyer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michal Korek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Korek has chosen Touch me as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Teodoro Sawyer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michal Korek!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Kavanagh and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sawyer throws a series of punches but Korek avoids them all with ease.
Michal Korek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sawyer uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Korek.
Korek feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Sawyers jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Korek tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Sawyer manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Nice uppercut there from Korek.
Sawyer is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Sawyer moves into the clinch.

Sawyer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Korek looking to score a takedown here. Sawyer is defending well but Korek drives through and ends up in Sawyer's guard.

Sawyer lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sawyer content to stall in guard here.
Sawyer won't allow Korek to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Korek can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Sawyer controls the pace.
Sawyer seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Korek for as long as he can get away with.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Korek is working an open guard so Sawyer takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Korek walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Sawyer checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Korek fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Sawyer tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Korek shoots in and bounces Sawyer off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Sawyer is trying to keep Korek in close.
Korek in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Sawyer wriggles free and stands up.
Korek throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Sawyer tries to close the distance and clinch up but Korek swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Korek.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Korek tries to stand but Sawyer is controlling his head.
Korek working the ground and pound.
Sawyer is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Korek off and has taken his back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Korek just trying to survive but Sawyer is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
You can see the frustration on Korek's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Korek trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Korek tries to break free.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Michal Korek will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Korek tests Sawyer's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Korek misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Danga de danga de dang - Korek scores with a four punch combination!


Sawyer is rocked!


It looks like Teodoro Sawyer has been cut.
Korek swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Oh Sawyer is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sawyer avoids a punch combination nicely.
Korek circles away from the clinch attempt.
Korek lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Sawyer out cold! Sawyer is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:34 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Michal Korek!
