Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Summer Carpenter and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Payne fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Gordon, pushing him back against the cage.

Payne manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gordon manages to get himself to full guard.
Payne controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Payne passes into half guard.
Gordon with the active half guard here but Payne passes nicely into side control.
Payne is trying to get an arm triangle but Gordon is defending well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Gordon throws a strike from the bottom but Payne uses the opportunity to take his back.

Gordon defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Payne's arms.
Gordon is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Payne.
It looks like Payne might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Payne bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Payne wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gordon, who protects the arm well.
Gordon is looking for a sweep.
Payne has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
