PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Cusow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby McBain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McBain has chosen The Drunk Scottsman as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Cusow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bobby McBain!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McBain gets caught napping as Cusow dives in and scores a takedown. McBain manages to retain guard.
Cusow looking to sit in guard and control but McBain gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

McBain missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Cusow keeping moving, preventing McBain from controlling successfully.
Cusow pulls McBain in close to prevent any damage.
McBain advances position into side control!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McBain trying to control the action but Cusow is working from the bottom.
Cusow struggling a bit here.

The ground and pound from McBain seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
McBain in side control, throwing shots but Cusow defends.
Cusow knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McBain on the ground.
McBain misses with the ground and pound.
Cusow struggling a bit here.
McBain tries to advance to mount but can't.
Cusow is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
McBain trying to control the position but Cusow is working away.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Cusow is looking for a sweep.
McBain tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Cusow is looking for a sweep.
McBain scoring with punches from side control.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
McBain misses with the ground and pound.
Cusow could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
McBain wants to control but Cusow is keeping him busy.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Cusow wants to control but McBain postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Cusow fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. McBain sprawls well initially but Cusow persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
McBain controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.
McBain works his way to full guard. Good work.
Cusow is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
McBain is pulling down on Cusow's head. It's preventing any offense from Cusow, at least for the moment.

Cusow controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
McBain keeping moving, preventing Cusow from controlling successfully.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
McBain blocks a jab.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cusow drives through with a takedown into McBain's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
McBain keeping moving, preventing Cusow from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Dan Cusow will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Cusow gets a takedown into half guard.
McBain makes his way to full guard. A much better position for McBain.
Cusow stopping the sweep attempt from McBain.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McBain being controlled here, momentarily.
McBain controls Cusow momentarily but Cusow frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cusow looking to sit in guard and control but McBain gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Cusow can't keep his opponent in guard - McBain advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

McBain wants to work for an arm triangle but Cusow is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Cusow wants to improve his position but McBain is controlling well.
McBain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cusow keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

McBain looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Dan Cusow overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McBain thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Cusow keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Cusow is concentrating on defense, preventing McBain from advancing position.
Still in half guard, McBain seems content to control.
McBain passes to full mount!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McBain unloading with bombs!


It looks like Dan Cusow has been cut.
McBain punching from mount but Cusow doing a good job of avoiding damage.

Cusow has left one of his arms exposed and McBain doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Cusow screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Bobby McBain!
