Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John Duddy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ike Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duddy's entrance music is Dropkick Murphys - 'Loyal to No One'. A fine choice. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 32 - 23 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Duddy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 12 - 1, fighting out of New York, Ike Turner!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Bruno Lombardi and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner connects with an inside leg kick.
Turner swings for the body but Duddy moves out of range.
Duddy lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


It looks like Ike Turner has been cut.

Turner tries to keep at a distance but Duddy has taken the fight into the clinch.

Duddy escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Duddy is looking to clinch.
Duddy tries to clinch there but Turner circles away.
Turner takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Duddy lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Duddy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Duddy pushes Turner up against the cage in a clinch.
Turner is looking to break free of the clinch but Duddy has double underhooks.
Duddy is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Duddy lands a right hand that snaps the head of Turner backwards.

Duddy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Duddy closes the distance and pushes Turner back into the cage.

Turner thows a leg kick but Duddy checks it
and Duddy counters with a slapping leg kick.

John Duddy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Turner ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Duddy moves away.

and Turner counters with an inside leg kick.
Duddy tries to score with a low kick but Turner moves his leg out of the way.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A looping hook to the body misses from Turner. Duddy does a little dance to reset his feet.
Duddy throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Turner counters with a nice low kick that buckles Duddy's knee momentarily.
Both fighters circling a little - Duddy finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Duddy looks to land a left hand but Turner moved out of range nicely.

and Duddy counters with an inside leg kick.

Turner walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Duddy tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Turner defends well and Duddy ends up having to push Turner into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Turner manages to break the clinch.
Duddy attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Sloppy strikes from Duddy. Those never looked like landing.
Duddy fails with the takedown.
Turner checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Duddy looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

and Turner counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Duddy thinking.
Turner pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Duddy back to the cage. Turner follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Duddy. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Turner lunges at Duddy with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Duddy's hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Turner counters with a stiff right hand.
Duddy takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Turner fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Duddy checks it well.

Turner lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Duddy at a distance.

Ike Turner is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Duddy.

Duddy throws a hook but Turner blocks it.

Duddy gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Duddy wants to break free but Turner has control.
Turner wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Duddy has him pressed against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Turner's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Duddy gets control of Turner's arms and successfully pulls guard. Duddy will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Turner decides to return to a standing position.
Duddy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Turner can do to turn this around?
Duddy motions for Turner to come forward. Duddy throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Duddy throws a nice outside leg kick.
Turner lands a front kick.
Turner cracks the inside of Duddy's front leg.
Duddy pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Duddy lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Turner has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Turner and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Duddy does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

John Duddy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John Duddy.
Well Duddy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

John Duddy decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
