Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Francis Atkins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marvin Miller!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller shoots in and drives through. Atkins sprawls well.
Atkins leaves Miller with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Good exchange - Miller coming out on top.


It looks like Francis Atkins has been cut.
Atkins fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Miller closes the distance and clinches.

Atkins jumps guard and drags Miller to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Atkins had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Miller defends it easily.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Miller can do anything to dispel that myth.
Atkins looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Miller trying to get back to full guard but Atkins takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Miller goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Atkins gets control of Miller's arms and successfully pulls guard. Atkins will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Miller must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Atkins is on top in guard.

Miller is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Atkins slaps away a takedown attempt from Miller, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Atkins darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Atkins scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Atkins scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Atkins decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Some wild striking there from Atkins.
Atkins has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Marvin Miller seems to be getting the better of the standup.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Miller tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Atkins swivels and escapes.
Miller takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Atkins throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Miller.
Atkins goes for a double leg but Miller avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Miller continues to drive forward.

Atkins has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Miller uses from the top position.
Miller tries to stand but Atkins is controlling from the bottom.
Atkins might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Miller is fighting to break Atkins's control of his arms but Atkins is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Atkins cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Atkins lands a punch that was close to the back of the head but the ref thinks it's OK.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Atkins scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
Can Miller hold on?! Atkins is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Atkins slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Atkins is looking to finish with some ground and pound!

Miller is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Atkins controlling the position well here. Miller rolled but Atkins kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
Atkins is landing with strikes. Miller can't take much more of this.
Atkins has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Miller's body.
Miller turns into Atkins and is now in his guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Francis Atkins is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Miller drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Atkins manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Miller has Atkins in his guard.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Atkins, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
