Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Okabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Keke Pummel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Pummel's choice of entrance music: renegades. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 37 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Okabe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Keke Pummel!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pummel swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Okabe seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Okabe fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Pummel - that will leave a mark!
Pummel looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Pummel has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Okabe throws an overhand right that lands on Pummel's shoulder, as Pummel tries to avoid the shot.
Pummel misses with a wild body shot.
Okabe sizes up Pummel with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Pummel cracks Okabe with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Pummel pushes Okabe away with a front kick.
Pummel cracks Okabe with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Pummel throws a nice inside leg kick.
Keke Pummel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Okabe scores with a nice head shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Okabe shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Okabe was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Okabe tries to advance to mount but Pummel denies him.

Okabe cracks Pummel with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.


It looks like Keke Pummel has been cut.
Pummel regains half guard.
Okabe looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Pummel is trying to get back to full guard.
Pummel blocking the ground and pound attempt from Okabe.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Okabe is trying to control. Pummel wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Okabe connects with a nice short shot to Pummel's temple.
Okabe has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Okabe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pummel keeps working.
Okabe works his foot free and advances to mount.

Okabe is stalling here but it's allowed Pummel to get half guard.
Pummel is trying to maintain the position but Okabe is very close to passing his half guard.

Okabe is nestled in close to Pummel, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Okabe is pushing down on Pummel's leg trying to pass to half guard. Pummel is fighting to maintain full guard but Okabe has managed to sneak the leg through.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Pummel pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Okabe with a jab.
Okabe will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Pummel feints and then cracks Okabe's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Okabe down.
Pummel scoring well with a low kick there.
Pummel slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Okabe scores with a decent looking hook.
Pummel swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Pummel misses with an uppercut. Okabe saw that one coming.
A solid leg kick lands there for Pummel.
Pummel drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pummel takes a swing at Okabe's ribcage but misses.
Okabe takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
The crowd cheers as Okabe lands an impressive looking overhand right. Pummel doesn't seem phased though.
Keke Pummel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Okabe uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pummel.
Pummel throws a shot from downtown. Okabe moves away and avoids it.
Okabe is trying hard to land a takedown here. Pummel sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Pummel keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Okabe lands a really nice looking cross but Pummel seems unphased.
Okabe is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Okabe closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pummel to the mat! Pummel manages to get full guard.

Pummel lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Okabe uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pummel.

Okabe slips under a jab from Pummel.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

I would just about give that final round to Keke Pummel.
