Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Wexler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jakob Silfversberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wexler kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Go To Sleep - Eminem. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shawn Wexler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jakob Silfversberg!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silfversberg thows a left - swing and a miss!
Wexler connects with a crisp jab.
Silfversberg misses with a low kick as Wexler jumps back.
Wexler shoots for a takedown but Silfversberg saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Silfversberg will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Wexler fails with the takedown
and Silfversberg cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Silfversberg throws a shot from downtown. Wexler moves away and avoids it.
Silfversberg moves away from the strike by Wexler.
Wexler fails in his attempt to clinch.

Silfversberg lands a right hook to the body.
Nice body punch from Wexler.
Silfversberg throws out a loose jab but Wexler uses good head movement to avoid it.

Silfversberg throws a jab when Wexler was well out of range.
Wexler throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Wexler gets a takedown into half guard.

Wexler seems to be working for a kimura but Silfversberg defends the submission attempt.
Silfversberg is looking for a sweep. Wexler is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Silfversberg has hold of Wexler's hands but Wexler slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Silfversberg is defending against the submission attempts here by Wexler.
Silfversberg looks like he's trying to stand up.

Silfversberg is in trouble now - Wexler has advanced to mount!
Wexler has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Silfversberg's face.
Wexler takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Wexler is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Silfversberg to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Silfversberg shrugs it off.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wexler fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Silfversberg is bucking up trying to escape but Wexler cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Wexler jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Silfversberg is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Silfversberg and Wexler has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Wexler wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silfversberg keeps working.
Wexler has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Silfversberg!
Silfversberg tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shawn Wexler dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Wexler swings for the body but Silfversberg moves out of range.
Wexler is trying hard to land a takedown here. Silfversberg sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silfversberg on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
We've been informed that Silfversberg has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Wexler misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Silfversberg stuns Wexler with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Silfversberg throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

and Wexler counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

A jab from Wexler finds it's way through Silfversberg's defenses.
Wexler scores with a jab. Silfversberg acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Wexler ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Wexler looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shawn Wexler. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silfversberg with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Wexler to score with a decent uppercut.


Silfversberg is rocked!
Silfversberg fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wexler manages to avoid it.
Silfversberg is still on wobbly legs! Can Wexler finish him?

Silfversberg gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
