The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Severence misses with the combination.
Severence tries to clinch there but Williams circles away.
Severence tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Severence clobbers Williams with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Williams shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Severence but Severence pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Severence fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Williams walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Severence takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Williams closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Williams decides to stand back up. Williams steps back and let's Severence get back to his feet.
Williams should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Severence misses with a leg kick
and Williams counters with a nice kick to the body.
Severence is breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Severence shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Williams as he avoids it easily.

Williams darts in and clinches Severence up against the cage.
Severence wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Williams pulls guard successfully.

Williams lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Severence!

Let's hope that Williams has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Williams avoids the attempt from Severence to control.

Severence wants to control but Williams is having none of it.
Williams is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Williams lands a big shot there that rocks Severence but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Severence tries to lock up and control but Williams gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
BOOM! Williams connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Williams cracks Severence with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Williams is working for a guillotine from mount but Severence frees his head quite easily.

Williams is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Severence misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Severence connects with a body shot.
Severence tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Williams counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Williams.

Severence breaks the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Severence.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Drey Severence. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Williams fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Williams gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Williams has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Severence finds it's way round the side to connect with Williams's head.

Williams forces Severence back against the cage and clinches.

Williams breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Williams closes the distance but Severence moves to the side
and Severence counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Williams thinking.
Severence moves into range and connects with a jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Williams takes a swing at Severence's ribcage but misses.
Severence fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Danga de danga de dang - Williams scores with a four punch combination!
Williams fails to land the takedown.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Severence swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Williams decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Severence's guard.
Severence is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Severence wants to get back to his feet but Williams is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Severence keeping full guard, as Williams tries to pass.

Williams stands up and waves to Severence to follow him.
Severence looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Williams slips a jab and a cross from Severence.
Severence throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Severence throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Williams clinches.

Severence wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Williams has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Severence clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Williams scores with strikes from the back.
Williams keeps control of the position as Severence tries to break free.
Williams throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Severence!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Williams controls the action.
Severence is trying to get back to his feet but Williams has full control of the position and if anything, Severence has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Williams is trying to control but Severence is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.

Williams goes for an armbar but Severence turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Severence.

Severence wants to pass the guard but Williams is keeping the position.

Williams wriggles free and stands up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Williams instigates a clinch.
Severence has had enough of the clinch but Williams keeps him there for the moment.
Williams is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Severence pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Williams fails to pull guard.
Williams lands an elbow that stopped Severence in his tracks for a moment.

Williams drags the fight down to the ground.

Severence decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Severence shoots in but Williams avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Severence misses with a kick to the body.
Severence thuds a left hand into Williams's body.
Drey Severence seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Severence misses with a jab, cross combination.
Severence just misses with a punch to the body.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Severence drops Williams with a beautiful combination! Williams stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Severence is looking for the KO!


Williams is rocked!


It looks like Rodrick Williams has been cut.
A big right followed by a crushing left from Severence knocks Williams out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Drey Severence!
