The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tanner is looking to clinch but Pillay is avoiding it.
Tanner tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Pillay paws at him with a jab and circles away.

and Tanner counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Tanner dodges the punch combination from Pillay.

Tanner scores with a jab. Pillay acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

and Tanner counters by clinching up.

Pillay prevents the takedown attempt.
Tanner jumps guard but Pillay stands there with Tanner around his waist. Tanner gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Tanner unloads a knee to the mid-section. Pillay lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
A nice left hand lands by Tanner.
Tanner changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Pillay fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Savinay Pillay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Young Tanner.

Savinay Pillay seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Tanner has Pillay up against the cage in a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tanner throws an uppercut from hell that sends Pillay clean off his feet! He's out cold! Tanner stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
