PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Branco Bozic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and The Machine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machine is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Judas Priest / Killing Machine. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The Knot

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Branco Bozic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, The Machine!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Alyssa Summers and Russell Pearce.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Left hook, right uppercut from Bozic.

It looks like The Machine has been cut.
Bozic swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Bozic scores with a nice strike.
Machine swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Bozic closes the distance and pushes Machine back into the cage.
Machine swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Machine tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Bozic's elbow.
Bozic misses with a punch to the body.
A nice right hand lands inside from Machine.
Bozic blocks an uppercut.
Machine taking a breather.
Bozic creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Bozic throws a head punch that misses.
Bozic blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Bozic breaks the clinch.

Machine gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Bozic makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Bozic will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Machine up against the cage.
Machine lands a left hand.
Machine lands a right hand that snaps the head of Bozic backwards.
Machine is struggling to control the position.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Machine.

Bozic breaks from the clinch.
A solid leg kick lands there for Machine.
Bozic throws a series of punches but Machine avoids them all with ease.
Bozic is looking to clinch.
Bozic misses with an attempted mid kick.
Bozic throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Machine's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Bozic dives in looking to finish as Machine flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Bozic's strikes! Bozic is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Machine's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Machine was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Branco Bozic!
In his post fight interview, Branco Bozic started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
