PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kimbo Slice (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Huima Kostaja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shirou Masuda.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slice misses with a jab, cross combination.
Slice tries to close the distance and clinch but Kostaja swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Slice misses with the combination.
Slice fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
No joy there for Slice, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Kostaja fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Slice, pushing him back against the cage.
Kostaja lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Slice doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Kostaja fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Kimbo Slice has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Huima Kostaja.

Slice is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Kostaja is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Slice gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Kostaja tries for a takedown but Slice manages to get underhooks.

Kostaja escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Slice misses with a double jab
and Slice takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Slice has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Kostaja changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Slice looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Slice is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kostaja has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Kostaja looks gassed!

Slice misses with a double jab

and Kostaja counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Slice wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Kostaja has him pressed against the cage.
Slice gets underhooks to prevent Kostaja's takedown attempt.

Kostaja successfully pulls guard.
Slice knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kostaja on the ground.
Kostaja pulls Slice in close to prevent any damage.

Kostaja is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Slice will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Slice throws a right hand that Kostaja ducks under and follows up with a left that Kostaja also avoids with ease.
Slice throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Kostaja shoots in and drives through. Slice sprawls well.
Slice throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Kostaja counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Kostaja.

Kostaja turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kostaja manages to end up in side control.
Kostaja is looking to take a break and control but Slice is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Kostaja is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Kostaja extends the arm and Slice is forced to tap!
