The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Eddie Farnsworth and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitaker is trying hard to land a takedown here. Diesel sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
A lazy body kick from Diesel
and Whitaker counters by clinching up.
Diesel is trying to break free.
Diesel is trying to break the clinch but Whitaker has him pressed against the cage.
Whitaker tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Whitaker swings wildly with an uppercut but Diesel uses good head movement to avoid it.
Whitaker drags the fight down to the ground.
Whitaker has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Diesel has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Diesel has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Diesel is trying to break the clinch but Whitaker is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Whitaker is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Diesel to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dalton Whitaker. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Whitaker has Diesel pressed against the cage, preventing Diesel from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Whitaker is looking to stand up but Diesel isn't so interested in that idea.
Diesel would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Whitaker pushes a forearm under Diesel's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Diesel is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
