Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Franco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Nash (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patrick Nash has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Patrick Nash!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Alyssa Summers and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nash moves to clinch but Franco breaks away
and Franco counters with a head kick.

Nash throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Franco was covering up waiting for the punch and Nash finishes the takedown easily into guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Franco throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Franco has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Nash tries to stand but Franco is controlling from the bottom.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nash has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Franco has passed into side control.
Nash is looking to regain half guard here but Franco keeps moving and retains side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Nash closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Nash has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Nash goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Franco rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Nash's guard! Nice work there by Franco!

Nash has his foot on Franco's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Franco works his way back into a safe position though.

Nash swings for the body but Franco moves out of range.

Franco is trying to drag Nash to the mat but Nash just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Franco wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Franco is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Franco tries to break free but Nash pushes him back against the cage.
Franco is trying to force a seperation but Nash has the dominant position.

Nash breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Nash fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Franco to the ground. Nash is now in Franco's guard.
Franco bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Nash's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nash has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Franco can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nash is breathing heavily.

Franco works over Nash with some ground and pound from guard.

Nash has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Franco has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Franco breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Nash shoots in and gets a takedown into Franco's guard.
Franco is looking to stand up but Nash isn't so interested in that idea.

Franco escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nash gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Franco is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Nash prevents Franco from getting back to his feet.

Patrick Nash showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
