PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Micheal Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Young (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Young has chosen The Rapture - Echoes as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Micheal Knight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nathan Young!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knight scores with a one two! Young had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Young tries to sprawl but Knight drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Knight perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Knight thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Young tries to roll over but Knight keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knight looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Knight missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Knight wants to lay and pray for a moment but Young keeps working.
Young is looking to control Knight's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Young avoid being mounted?

That's one minute gone in the round.
Young moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Young working for submissions but it's allowed Knight to get to half guard.
Knight tries to stand but can't do so whilst Young controls his leg.

Young is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Knight pulls his head out easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Knight wants to stand up but Young has a hold of him and won't allow it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Young wants to improve his position but Knight is controlling well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Knight looks to clinch

and Young counters with a shoot takedown. Knight fights it but they end up in guard.
Knight is controlling Young's posture.
Young wants to control from the top but Knight keeps moving.
Knight looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Young trying to control the position from guard on top but Knight is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Young slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Young tries to free his leg and advance position but Knight is retaining full guard.
Knight might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Knight is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Young postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Young enables Knight to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Young manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Young wants to sweep but no luck.
Knight scoring with punches to the head and body.

Young isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Knight stacks Young on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Knight!
Knight wants to control but Young is keeping him busy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Young looking for a sweep but Knight has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Young tries to lock up and control but Knight gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Knight looking to control but Young is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Micheal Knight dominated that round.
That's time! Knight's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Young has his takedown stuffed

and Knight counters with a single leg into guard. Young didn't expect that.
Knight pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Young is keeping the position for now.
Knight missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Knight wants to stand but Young has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Young can't keep his opponent in guard - Knight advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Knight seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Knight seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Young for as long as he can get away with.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Young makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Young.
Young keeping moving, preventing Knight from controlling successfully.

Knight has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Young to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Knight is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Young pulls down on the head and he's put Knight to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Nathan Young!
Nathan Young decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
