Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcio Araujo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Jose Dantas!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Alexandre Firmino and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dantas tries to keep at a distance but Araujo has taken the fight into the clinch.
Araujo is pressed up against the cage. Dantas has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Araujo down to the mat. Araujo avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Araujo shoots and misses

and Dantas counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Dantas's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Dantas prevents Araujo from getting back to his feet.
Araujo looking to control.
Dantas is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Araujo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dantas can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Dantas pushes down on Araujo's leg and manages to get into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dantas passes to full mount!
Araujo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dantas controlling his opponent.
Araujo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dantas on the ground.
Dantas postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Araujo looks a forlorn figure.
Dantas is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Dantas takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Araujo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Araujo wants to hold on but Dantas pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Dantas takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Dantas lands with some strikes.
Oh Araujo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Dantas looking to finish Araujo with some ground and pound. This is bad for Araujo!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Dantas lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Araujo! Dantas sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Araujo and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Jose Dantas!
An out of breath Jose Dantas thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
