The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sonnen tries for a takedown but Beret sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Beret scores with a head kick.

It looks like Chael Sonnen has been cut.
Sonnen will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Chael Sonnen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Good leg kick by Beret there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Sonnen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Beret circles away.
Green Beret has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chael Sonnen.

Beret connects with a leg kick. Sonnen looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ohhhhh! A huge head kick from Beret! Sonnen is out on his feet! Beret rushes in and throws more strikes. The ref is looking closely - Sonnen is covering up but the punishment is just too much and the ref steps in to stop the fight! Sonnen is staring into space, just thankful that the beatdown has ended. Brutal finish.

After the fight, Green Beret was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
