Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Luke Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Javier Pena (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 1, fighting out of New York, Luke Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Javier Pena!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Joseph Jones and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pena lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jones circles away quickly and effectively.
Jones uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pena.
Jones misses with a low kick.
Pena lands a nice shot that snaps Jones's head back.
Jones throws a low kick but Pena avoids it.
Pena throws a head kick that misses.
Pena has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Pena there as he acknowledges the shot.
Jones just misses with a punch to the body.
That kick from Pena tenderised Jones's leg. Jones is trying to keep his angry face on.
Jones ducks under a wild hook from Pena.
Nice cross by Jones.
No joy there for Pena, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Pena misses with a jab, cross combination.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pena. Jones does a little dance to reset his feet.
A clash of legs there as Jones blocks the low kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones lands a really nice looking cross but Pena seems unphased.

Jones throws a jab but it's blocked by Pena.
Jones with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Pena takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pena moves away.
Jones scores with a leg kick.
Jones dips to his left and cracks Pena with an uppercut!
Pena throws a hook but Jones blocks it.
Jones scores with a jab to the jaw.
A nice combination there by Pena.
Pena uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jones.
Jones throws a half hearted mid kick.
Pena steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Jones.
We've been hearing reports that Jones has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
A solid leg kick lands there for Jones.
Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Pena on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Jones. Jones obviously looking to wear him down.
Pena lands a head kick. Jones smiles back at him and beckons him forward.

Jones avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A slow jab from Jones misses its intended target.
Pena misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jones looks to land a left hand but Pena moved out of range nicely.
Pena misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Jones.
Pena checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Jones misses with a hook.
Jones scores with a sloppy right hand. Pena should have avoided that one.
Jones moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Jones gets the takedown into side control.
Jones just content to control the position.
Jones wants to control but Pena is keeping him busy.
Pena wants to get back to his feet.

Sloppy strikes there by Jones.
Jones takes a little break here. Pena wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Jones is looking to take a break and control but Pena is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Pena misses with a head kick.
Jones slips a straight right by Pena.

Jones looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Pena!
Jones tries to move into full mount but can't pass Pena's legs.
Pena is trying to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones cracks Pena with a big elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Luke Jones dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Pena misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jones feints and then cracks Pena's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Pena down.
Jones thuds his right hand into Pena's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Pena jabs Jones to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Pena jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Jones throws a solid leg kick but Pena takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Jones.
Pena looks to throw the jab but Jones is out of range.
Javier Pena is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Some wild striking there from Pena.
Pena moves out of range of the strikes.
Jones needs to keep his hands up - Pena had a free shot at his head there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Pena moves away.
Jones listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Pena blocks a head kick by Jones.

so Jones counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Pena is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Jones is controlling him.
Jones wants to control from the top but Pena keeps moving.
Jones wants to pass the guard but Pena is keeping the position.
Luke Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jones engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Pena fails to land with a series of punches.
Pena throws a low kick but Jones moves out of range easily.
Pena stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Jones stuns Pena with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Pena throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Pena throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Jones dives in for a single leg takedown but Pena sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Jones wants a takedown.
Jones lands a hook that snaps the head of Pena backwards.
Pena blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Pena tries to break free but Jones pushes him back against the cage.
Jones scores with a shot to the side of Pena's head.
Jones misses with a hook from the clinch.
Pena prevents a body shot from Jones.
Jones doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Pena managing to block the knees to the body from Jones.

Pena throws a combination that misses

and Jones counters with a single leg into guard. Pena didn't expect that.
Jones postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Pena manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Jones is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Pena pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luke Jones. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jones tries to land knees in the clinch but Pena avoids the damage to the body.
Jones fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Pena wants to break the clinch but can't.

Pena tries to break free but Jones pushes him back against the cage.
Pena wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Jones swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Pena is trying to force a seperation but Jones has the dominant position.
Jones is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pena can do to turn this around?
Jones can't find room to land a body shot as Pena controls the action.
Pena is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Jones tries for a takedown but Pena sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Jones displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pena throws out the jab.
Pena throws a good cross that connects.
Jones throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pena misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jones lands a front kick.
Pena tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Jones is able to avoid easily.
Pena swings widly with a right hand

and Jones counters with a nice double leg into side control. Pena won't be happy with that.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Jones tries to advance to mount but Pena denies him.

Jones fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Jones works to advance to full mount. Pena defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Javier Pena has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Pena is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Jones trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Jones is landing with some decent strikes but Pena is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Jones content just to control the position here.
Poor strikes thrown by Jones there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Jones lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Pena tries to buck Jones off but he can't manage it.
Jones sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Jones can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pena is looking to escape.
Pena really wants to buck Jones off and get back to his feet.

Jones can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pena is looking to escape.

And that's the end of the fight!
Luke Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
