PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michel Kiessling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brent Harvey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Brent Harvey!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Ben Zyskovitsi and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kiessling wants to clinch.
Kiessling connects with a crisp jab.

Harvey on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Harvey misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Harvey fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Kiessling avoids it really well and circles away.
Harvey will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Harvey changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kiessling tries to avoid it but Harvey manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kiessling to the ground. Kiessling escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Kiessling lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Harvey tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kiessling sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Harvey somewhat.
Kiessling feints a jab promting Harvey to slip. Kiessling then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Harvey slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Harvey remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Kiessling enables Harvey to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kiessling manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
