Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ara Givi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Robert Robertson!
The judges for this bout are Topper Green, Hugh Johnson and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robertson keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Givi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Robertson looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Givi looks for a takedown but Robertson sprawls well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ara Givi. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Givi darts in and clinches Robertson up against the cage.
Givi avoids a wild elbow strike from Robertson.

Robertson lands a big head kick that sends Givi tumbling to the mat! Robertson takes a step backwards and waves Givi back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Givi throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Robertson's waist but Robertson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Givi off to one side.

Givi is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Robertson's half guard.

Robertson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Givi has gone for a leg lock! Robertson slips out almost immediately though and dives into Givi's guard.

Robertson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Givi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Givi seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Givi has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Robertson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Givi looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Robertson has picked Givi up and slammed him! Givi can't keep hold of the triangle and Robertson manages to pass to side control!
Robertson wants to stand but Givi has his arm trapped.
Givi wants to control but Robertson postures up.
Robertson remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
You can see the frustration on Givi's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Givi.
Robertson feints a counter leg kick.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Givi shoots in and drives through. Robertson sprawls well.

Robertson is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Givi with a body shot.

and Robertson counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Givi! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Robertson!
