PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Amir Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mason is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Beautiful People. Bill Mason is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Bill Mason!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Phil Schofield and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
We've been hearing reports that Griffin has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Griffin shoots in for a double leg but Mason sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Mason has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Griffin is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Mason instigates a clinch.
Griffin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Mason smiles and moves away.

Mason is trying to push Griffin away but Griffin has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Mason wants to break free but Griffin has control.

Mason is looking to control Griffin's arms but Griffin gets an underhook and turns him. Now Mason has his back to the cage.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Mason tries to throw a body punch but Griffin avoids it by throwing Mason back against the cage.
Mason doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Griffin landing knees to the body.
Mason wants to break the clinch but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Amir Griffin dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Bill Mason's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Griffin closes the distance and pushes Mason back into the cage.
Griffin wants to stall.
Griffin scores a nice knee to the body.

Griffin has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Mason regains guard immediately.
Griffin advances position into side control!

Griffin has hold of Mason's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Mason tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Griffin cranks the arm and Mason screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Mason, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Amir Griffin!
