Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Grover Erickson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roman Chambers!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chambers moves to clinch but Erickson breaks away

and Erickson counters by clinching up.
Erickson stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Chambers tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Erickson pulls guard successfully.

Erickson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chambers doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chambers manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Chambers is looking to advance position but Erickson has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chambers is looking to get to half guard.
Erickson landing punches.

Erickson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Chambers's face.
Chambers is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Erickson is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Chambers is in real trouble.
Erickson lands a shot to the body.
Erickson is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Chambers. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Erickson cracks Chambers with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Chambers from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Chambers is taking damage to the body and head.

Erickson is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Erickson lands a shot to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chambers is trying to get back to his feet but Erickson has full control of the position and if anything, Chambers has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Erickson has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Chambers.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Erickson lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
Erickson lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Chambers.
Chambers takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Erickson is landing with strikes from the back.
Erickson lands with a hammerfist to the side of Chambers's head.
Chambers is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Erickson.

Erickson lands a shot to the body.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Erickson connects with a big shot to the side of Chambers's head.
Erickson punches Chambers on the ear.
Erickson slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Chambers can't escape the position.
Chambers is trying to stand back up.
Erickson is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Erickson gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Erickson gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Erickson apologises and we restart here on the feet.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Chambers is defended easily by Erickson.
Erickson wants to clinch.
Erickson keeps the fight on the outside.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Erickson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Roman Chambers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chambers throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Chambers gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Erickson counters with a nice double leg into side control. Chambers won't be happy with that.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Grover Erickson dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Chambers fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Chambers shoots in and gets a takedown into Erickson's guard.
Erickson wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Erickson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Chambers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Erickson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Erickson is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

Erickson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Erickson is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Chambers has his hands clasped together but Erickson extends and breaks Chambers's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Erickson.
