The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Van Gompel shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Clock as he avoids it easily.

Clock lands a head shot.

Clock leaves Van Gompel with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Jerry Clock has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henk Jan Van Gompel.

and Clock counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Clock stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Van Gompel swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Van Gompel is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

I've been told that Van Gompel has been drilling his wrestling of late, which has already helped him take this fight to the mat. Let's see how much of an impact it has on the outcome of the ground game.

He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Clock looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out!
