Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Demitrious Benavidez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Demitrious Benavidez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremy Smith!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benavidez has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Benavidez there as he acknowledges the shot.
Smith closes the distance but Benavidez moves to the side

and Benavidez counters with a shoot takedown. Smith fights it but they end up in guard.
Benavidez looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Benavidez stops Smith from standing up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Benavidez content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Benavidez stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Smith to get to his feet.
Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Benavidez moves away.
Smith connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Jeremy Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch but Benavidez swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Benavidez counters with a nice double leg into side control. Smith won't be happy with that.

Benavidez lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Smith is pushing Benavidez's head away, looking to escape. Benavidez manages to hold on to the position though.
Smith bucks up and tries to throw Benavidez off but instead Benavidez has got his back!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Benavidez has good solid back control here.
Benavidez has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Smith.

Benavidez throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Smith!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

What can Smith do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Smith is trying to get back to his feet but Benavidez has full control of the position and if anything, Smith has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Benavidez is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Benavidez gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Benavidez gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Benavidez apologises and we restart here on the feet.
Jeremy Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Benavidez has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.


It looks like Demitrious Benavidez has been cut.

Smith looks to land a combination but Benavidez avoids it well.
Benavidez slips a straight right by Smith.
Benavidez avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

and Benavidez counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Smith!

Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Benavidez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Smith pushes Benavidez away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Benavidez gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Benavidez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Benavidez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Smith looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Benavidez shoots in looking for a takedown. Smith tries to sprawl out of it but Benavidez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Smith manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Benavidez tries to move into range but Smith moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Smith uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Benavidez has time to react.


Benavidez is rocked!
Smith walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Benavidez drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Smith swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Benavidez's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jeremy Smith!
