PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wojtek Dur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wojtek Dur!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Junior Harris!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Columbo Gatti and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice body kick from Dur.
Some wild striking there from Harris.
Dur throws out a leg kick but Harris moves out of range and Dur only half commits.
Dur looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Dur chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Harris moves into the clinch successfully.
Dur throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Dur is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Harris is defending well for now.

Dur is fighting off a takedown attempt but Harris is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Dur to the mat. Dur regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Harris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dur swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Harris postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Harris pushes down on Dur's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Harris looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dur is staying active underneath Harris, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dur wants to control but Harris is keeping busy.
Harris really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Dur. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Harris is controlling the pace.
Dur controlling the position well.
Dur moves into full guard.
Harris wants to pass the guard but Dur is keeping the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Harris loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Harris seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Dur working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Harris doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Harris manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Dur is trying to keep Harris in close.

Harris gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Harris throws a head kick but Dur moves out of range.
Harris on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Dur. Dur obviously looking to wear him down.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
An inside leg kick from Dur misses.
Harris misses with a wild body shot.

Harris shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Harris showed some decent athleticism there.
Harris controlling the action here.

Harris is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dur is just riding it out for now. Harris eventually gives up the hold.
My spies in HARRY'S inform me that Harris has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Dur wants to get back to full guard.

Dur has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Harris is working away from the top position though.
Dur is not content to let Harris control the position.
Harris is controlling the pace.
Harris is trying to control the action in half guard but Dur is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Dur wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Junior Harris dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Dur delivers a nice body kick.
Dur pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A good leg kick by Dur.

Harris forces Dur back against the cage and clinches.
Dur with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Harris displaying some good clinch control by pressing Dur up against the cage.

Harris pulls Dur into guard.
Dur won't allow Harris to get back to his feet.

Dur drops back looking for a leg! Harris is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Harris manages to kick Dur off! Dur jumps back into Harris's guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Harris is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Dur drops back, looking for a kneebar! Harris looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Harris looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Harris!


Harris has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Dur takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Harris takes the fight into the clinch.
Dur throws an elbow but it's blocked.

Dur throws out a leg kick but Harris moves out of range and Dur only half commits.
Dur looks to land a body kick but Harris moved away.
Dur fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Harris has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Dur tries a low kick but Harris avoids it.
Harris has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Harris looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Harris trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Harris trying to control but Dur is working from the bottom.
Dur preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Harris drops back looking for a leg! Dur is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dur manages to kick Harris off! Harris jumps back into Dur's guard.

Dur is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Harris is aware though and is defending well.
Harris controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dur looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Harris passes into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dur is not content to let Harris control the position.
Harris passes to full mount!
Harris takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Harris looking to control but Dur is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Dur tries to hold on but Harris postures up.

Harris looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Harris throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Harris goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Dur turns into him and now he's in Harris's guard.
Dur is fighting to break Harris's control of his arms but Harris is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Junior Harris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Harris decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dur to his feet.
Dur throws a half hearted mid kick.
Dur throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Harris shoots in and gets a takedown into Dur's guard.
Dur is trying to control the position but Harris postures up.
Harris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dur swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Harris trying to control the position from guard on top but Dur is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dur can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Harris controls the pace.

Harris postures up.
Harris postures up in Dur's guard and throws a big left but Dur blocks it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Harris rushes Dur and presses him up against the cage.
Dur tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Harris avoids it.

Harris has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Dur clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Harris has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Harris struggling to keep hold of the position.
Dur is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dur trying to control but not successfully.

Harris controlling well, preventing Dur from escaping the position.
Junior Harris has got the better of the ground game so far.
Harris not allowing Dur to control his hands.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dur is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

Harris is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Dur knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Dur for a finish.

Dur looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Dur has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from Harris.
What can Dur do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Junior Harris is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Dur tries to roll but Harris sticks to his back.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Dur is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Harris gets his way!
Wojtek Dur has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Harris has good solid back control here.

I've got Harris winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
