PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Archie Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stewart comes into the arena with Frightened Rabbit - The Twist blaring out of the sound system. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Archie Stewart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, George Wilson!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Sam Margolis and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab lands there for Wilson.
Wilson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wilson jabs Stewart to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Stewart connects with a jab.


It looks like George Wilson has been cut.
Stewart has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Wilson loads up on a big right hand but Stewart slips the punch.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Stewart.
Stewart turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Wilson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stewart manages to avoid it.

Stewart working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wilson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wilson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Stewart looks to land a combination but Wilson avoids it well.
Wilson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Wilson lands a really nice looking cross but Stewart seems unphased.

and Stewart decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wilson's guard.

Wilson has his foot on Stewart's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Stewart works his way back into a safe position though.
Stewart throws a strike but Wilson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Stewart escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wilson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Wilson postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Stewart lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Stewart's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stewart postures up in Wilson's guard and throws a big left but Wilson blocks it.

Wilson working for submissions but it's allowed Stewart to get to half guard.
Stewart wants to pass the guard but Wilson is defending well.
Stewart scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Stewart not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Stewart is pressing down on Wilson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Wilson is holding on for now.

Stewart winds up and cracks Wilson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Wilson tries to roll over but Stewart keeps him under control.

Stewart is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Wilson has managed to free his arm - good work.
Wilson tries to get to full guard but Stewart has control of the leg.
Stewart has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wilson is pressing down on Stewart's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wilson is on top in guard.

Stewart will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Stewart controls Wilson momentarily but Wilson frees himself.

Wilson is working Stewart over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Stewart makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Stewart.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Stewart is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wilson is aware though and is defending well.

I would just about give that final round to George Wilson.
I think Wilson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
