Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Redtail (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chase Status (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redtail moves in looking to clinch but Status pushes him off.
A head kick misses from Redtail.
Status throws a front kick aimed at Redtail's knee but Redtail avoids it well.
Redtail shoots for a double leg takedown but Status sprawls well. He's pushed Redtail's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Redtail throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Status.
Status avoids the head kick by Redtail.

Status shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Status showed some decent athleticism there.

Status is working for a submission of some sort.
Status should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Redtail wants to clinch up but Status keeps it at a distance.

Redtail fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Status sprawls well initially but Redtail persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Redtail avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Chase Status dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Redtail shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Status counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Redtail's guard now.
Status wants to pass the guard but Redtail is keeping the position.

Status drops back looking for a leg! Redtail is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Redtail manages to kick Status off! Status jumps back into Redtail's guard.
Redtail is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Status stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Redtail swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Status looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Redtail is avoiding damage well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Status decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Redtail's guard.

Status drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Status jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Redtail looking to hit a scissor sweep but Status is one step ahead there.

Status drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Redtail dives on top into guard.

Status has his foot on Redtail's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Redtail works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Chase Status showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
