Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Shephard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and alQaeda alQaeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). alQaeda has chosen Mohammed's theme tune as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
alQaeda avoids a punch combination nicely.
alQaeda throws a jab but it's blocked by Shephard.
Shephard tries to move into range but alQaeda moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
alQaeda misses with an uppercut.
Shephard doesn't manage to clinch there - alQaeda circles away.
alQaeda lunges at Shephard with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Shephard's hand.
alQaeda feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Shephards jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Shephard lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but alQaeda circles away quickly and effectively.
Shephard throws a right and a left that alQaeda avoids nicely.

alQaeda has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

alQaeda lands a really nice looking cross but Shephard seems unphased.
Shephard is looking to clinch but alQaeda is avoiding it.

Shephard gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts alQaeda, as that shot connected.

alQaeda changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

alQaeda lands a nice looking body kick.
alQaeda throws a lazy right hand but Shephard sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
alQaeda scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
alQaeda is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shephard looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Shephard is looking to wear down alQaeda with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Shephard moves out of range as alQaeda strikes.
alQaeda lunges at Shephard with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Shephard's hand.
alQaeda lands a leg kick that knocks Shephard off balance momentarily.
Shephard fails to land with a series of punches.
The crowd cheers as alQaeda lands an impressive looking overhand right. Shephard doesn't seem phased though.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and alQaeda counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by alQaeda.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
