Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tomas Edwards (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kendall Rison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tomas Edwards!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Kendall Rison!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rison has Edwards up against the cage in a clinch.

Rison has Edwards pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Rison pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Edwards tumbling to the mat - Rison dives into Edwards's guard.

Edwards thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Rison working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Edwards working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Rison has passed into half guard!

Rison is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Edwards doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rison.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Edwards looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rison is fending him off so far but Edwards persists. Nope, Rison circles away and we're back to standing.
Edwards shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rison but Rison pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Rison wants to free his trapped foot but Edwards is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Rison is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Rison really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Edwards. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Rison rushes Edwards and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Rison works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Rison slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Edwards.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rison decides to stand up, so the ref orders Edwards to his feet.

Rison rushes Edwards and presses him up against the cage.

Rison is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Edwards can't fight it off and eventually Rison manages to take the fight to the floor. Edwards looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Rison has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Rison has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Rison with shots to the head and body - Edwards looks very uncomfortable down there.
Edwards is controlling an arm, preventing Rison from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Rison tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Edwards bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kendall Rison showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Rison throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Rison decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Edwards's guard.
Rison is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Edwards doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Edwards is looking for a triangle but Rison pushes his legs off easily.

Rison is working for a submission of some sort.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Rison slows the pace down in half guard.

Rison stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Edwards fails with a takedown attempt.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Rison rushes Edwards and presses him up against the cage.

Edwards escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Rison drives through and clinches with Edwards against the cage.
Edwards goes for a takedown attempt but Rison pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Edwards rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rison moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Edwards is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Kendall Rison comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rison has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
