Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Maxwell Pappin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonny Five (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maxwell Pappin has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Maxwell Pappin!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jonny Five!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Anthony Taglia and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pappin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Pappin showed some decent athleticism there.
Five tries to kick Pappin off but Pappin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Pappin looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Pappin looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pappin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Pappin wants to pass to mount but Five is defending the position.

Five is looking to escape.
Five is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Pappin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Five on the ground.

Pappin content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Pappin seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Five for as long as he can get away with.

Pappin shoots in for a takedown but Five shows good takedown defense.
Five throws an overhand right that lands on Pappin's shoulder, as Pappin tries to avoid the shot.

Pappin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pappin lands in his opponent's guard.

Pappin could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Five wants to sweep here but Pappin controlling him for the moment.

Five working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pappin doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pappin manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Five is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Five wants to stand but Pappin has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Five is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Pappin holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Pappin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Pappin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Pappin takes a little break here. Five wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Maxwell Pappin just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Pappin shoots in and drives through. Five sprawls well.
Maxwell Pappin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Pappin takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Pappin shoots for a takedown but Five saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Five lands a nice looking body kick.
Five connects with a good right hand that stumbles Pappin. Pappin circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Maxwell Pappin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Five throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Five thuds his shin into the meat of Pappin's side.
Pappin blocks a head kick by Five.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Five trying to remain calm as Pappin controls from the top position.
Pappin wants to control but Five is keeping him busy.
Five is trying to buck Pappin off.
Five can't do much from the bottom here.
Jonny Five has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
No luck for Pappin with that takedown attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Maxwell Pappin.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pappin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
