Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Masahiko Kimura (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Manfred Honeypott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kimura might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to STORM by the Yoshida Brothers. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Masahiko Kimura!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Manfred Honeypott!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Alyssa Summers and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Honeypott misses with a hook.
Honeypott throws a looping overhand right but Kimura ducks down to avoid it.
Honeypott misses the jab.
Kimura keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Honeypott.

Kimura scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Honeypott is trying to improve his position.
Honeypott wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Kimura decides to stand back up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kimura gets a double leg takedown into Honeypott's guard.
Kimura controls from within his opponent's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Honeypott looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kimura is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kimura throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Honeypott works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kimura's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Kimura pushing down on Honeypott's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Kimura is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Honeypott defends it well.
Honeypott wants to get back to full guard.

Kimura stands up out of the half guard.
Manfred Honeypott is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Honeypott throws a sloppy body shot

and Kimura counters by clinching up.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Kimura.

Honeypott is fighting off a takedown attempt but Kimura is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Honeypott to the mat. Honeypott regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Honeypott tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Honeypott preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kimura is stalling in the full guard.
Kimura has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Kimura's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Kimura passes easily into side control. Nice work.
You can see the frustration on Honeypott's face as Kimura controls the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Kimura works to advance to full mount. Honeypott defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Honeypott tries to hold on but Kimura pushes him away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Masahiko Kimura dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Honeypott misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Kimura.
Kimura takes a swing at Honeypott's ribcage but misses.

and Kimura holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Kimura has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Honeypott uses from the top position.

Kimura is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Honeypott frees his head nicely. Oh but Kimura has switched to an armbar! Honeypott is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!

Masahiko Kimura seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
