PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carter Madison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Roxas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Madison comes to the cage accompanied by Heaven Nor Hell. Roxas has chosen Remember The Name - Fort Minor as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Carter Madison!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jake Roxas!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Dmitry Maklakov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good standup being displayed there by Roxas as he connects with a hook.
No luck for Madison with that takedown attempt.
Roxas throws a big shot that misses.
Madison tries to close the distance and clinch but Roxas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Madison throws a lazy right hand but Roxas sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Roxas misses with a body punch
and Madison counters with a series of strikes. Roxas will be more careful next time no doubt.
Horrible takedown attempt by Madison or perhaps it was just good defense by Roxas, which made it look bad.
Madison throws a sloppy head kick and Roxas moves out of range easily.
Madison misses with a takedown attempt - Roxas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carter Madison. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Madison shoots in for a takedown but Roxas shows good takedown defense.

Roxas decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Roxas throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Roxas misses with a wild body shot.
Roxas ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Madison moves away.
Nice sprawl there from Roxas as Madison shoots in.

Roxas shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Roxas was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Madison is looking for a sweep.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Roxas is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Madison will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Roxas creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Madison sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Roxas fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Madison looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

and Roxas counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Roxas slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Roxas is working Madison over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Roxas throws an elbow that misses. Madison uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Roxas's guard. Nice move by Madison!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

and Roxas counters with a nice double leg into side control. Madison won't be happy with that.

Roxas cracks Madison with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Roxas immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Madison is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Roxas!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jake Roxas!
