Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Raf Fernandes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Eric Angle!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fernandes fails with an attempt to clinch.

Fernandes closes the distance and clinches.
Fernandes blocks an uppercut.
Angle is trying to break the clinch but Fernandes has him pressed against the cage.
Angle tries to break free but Fernandes pushes him back against the cage.
Fernandes lands a damaging elbow.


It looks like Eric Angle has been cut.
Nice elbow from Fernandes.

Fernandes breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Angle waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Fernandes.
Angle tries to work over Fernandes's front leg with a kick but Fernandes checks it.
Fernandes fails in his attempt to clinch.

Fernandes clinches with his opponent.
Fernandes is leaning against Angle and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Angle working hard to break the clinch.
Fernandes digs a right hand into Angle's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Angle's gas tank.
Angle is trying to push Fernandes away but Fernandes has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
A bit of stalling here from Fernandes.
Fernandes throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Angles head.
Angle tries to circle away but Fernandes has him pinned against the cage.
Fernandes lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Angle backwards.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Fernandes escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Fernandes goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Angle keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Angle misses with an uppercut. Fernandes saw that one coming.
Fernandes checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Fernandes gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Fernandes gets a warning from the ref for wasting time.
Fernandes is working Angle over against the cage.
Angle tries to circle away but Fernandes has him pinned against the cage.
Fernandes lands an elbow inside.
Nice elbow from Fernandes.


That has opened up Eric Angle's cut even more.
Angle looks winded!

Fernandes pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Fernandes takes the fight into the clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Fernandes lands a vicious elbow to the side of Angle's head that scrambles his senses and sends him wobbling down to the canvas! Fernandes tries to finish him with strikes but Angle still seems able to defend himself so Fernandes steps back and lets Angle get back to his feet - he wants no part of the ground game.


Angle is rocked!
Fernandes ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Angle's jaw. Angle's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Fernandes does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Raf Fernandes!
In his post fight interview, Raf Fernandes started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
