PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jack Trinity (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Liam Oliver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liam Oliver told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Liam Oliver!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Santiago Holmes and Winston Alpacca.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No joy there for Oliver, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Trinity shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Oliver pinned against the cage. Oliver gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Trinity will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Oliver misses the jab.
Oliver throws a leg kick which misses Trinity's front leg but catches the back leg as Trinity tries to avoid it.

Trinity shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Oliver napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Trinity tries to move to mount but Oliver blocks the move with his legs.
Oliver is trying to improve his position.

Trinity is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Oliver has escaped the position, nice work there.
Oliver is trying to get back to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Trinity in side control lands a decent elbow.

Trinity is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Oliver is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Oliver throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Oliver throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
Trinity moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Trinity looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Oliver is avoiding damage well.
Oliver has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Trinity lands an elbow.
Oliver tries to buck Trinity off but Trinity is having none of it.

Trinity tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Trinity has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Oliver is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Trinity is controlling him well.
Trinity tries to score with some ground and pound. Oliver controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Trinity is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Oliver has escaped the position, nice work there.
Oliver wants to get back to his feet.
Trinity cracks Oliver with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Oliver is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Trinity has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Oliver is trying to buck Trinity off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Oliver is looking to reverse the position.
Oliver is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Trinity asserts his dominance and retains side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Oliver is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Trinity's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Trinity is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Oliver has managed to free his arm - good work.
Trinity will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Trinity seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Trinity scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Trinity thows a huge punch but Oliver dodges it nicely.
Oliver is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Oliver is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Trinity's half guard.

Trinity is pressing down on Oliver's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Trinity looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Oliver wants to stand but Trinity is controlling his posture from full guard.

Trinity is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Jack Trinity overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Trinity blocks the strikes from Oliver.
Trinity wants to free his trapped foot but Oliver is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Oliver is looking for a sweep. Trinity is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Trinity wants to control but Oliver is keeping him busy.
Trinity wants to pass to mount but Oliver is defending the position.

Oliver kicks off Trinity and gets to his feet.
Jack Trinity is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Trinity decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Trinity maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Oliver could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Trinity has cracked it and Oliver is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Trinity!
