Sampson is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by "Off the Chain" by Serg Salinas. Dave Baulasquez has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dave Baulasquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rick Sampson!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Baulasquez darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Baulasquez is nestled in close to Sampson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Baulasquez working over Sampson with some ground and pound. Sampson looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Sampson is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Baulasquez scores with a couple of nice shots.
Baulasquez is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Sampson looks winded!
Baulasquez missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Baulasquez is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Sampson on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Sampson is trying to get back to full guard.
It looks like Baulasquez is going to stand back up.

Sampson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Sampson wants to control but Baulasquez is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Baulasquez performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Baulasquez seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.


Sampson is rocked!
Still in half guard, Baulasquez seems content to control.
Sampson is still in real trouble! Can Baulasquez finish him?
Baulasquez lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Sampson quite badly. Sampson pulls Baulasquez in close trying to recover. Baulasquez postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Sampson on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Sampson doesn't seem to be complaining too much.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Dave Baulasquez!
