PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Errol Mason (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Petit MLEJNek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Petit MLEJNek told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Errol Mason!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Petit MLEJNek!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Nard Betker and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mason moves into the clinch successfully.
MLEJNek stalling in the clinch.

MLEJNek gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Mason is trying to stand back up but MLEJNek is controlling him
MLEJNek controlling the action here.
MLEJNek working Mason over with strikes.

MLEJNek is trying to work for a kimura but Mason is defending well.
Mason knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for MLEJNek on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mason blocking the ground and pound attempt from MLEJNek.
Mason is staying active underneath MLEJNek, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mason wants to control but MLEJNek is keeping busy.
MLEJNek seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
MLEJNek throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mason is looking for a sweep. MLEJNek is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
MLEJNek not doing much here.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Mason tries to kick MLEJNek off in order to stand up. MLEJNek Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
MLEJNek scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Mason to see if he's OK.
MLEJNek staying calm.
MLEJNek trying to control the position but Mason is working away.
MLEJNek lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Mason down.

MLEJNek decides to stand back up.

MLEJNek shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. MLEJNek showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
MLEJNek uses his free foot to push down on Mason's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Mason.

Mason working to try and regain half guard.

MLEJNek is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Mason can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Mason tries to lock up and control but MLEJNek gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
MLEJNek has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

MLEJNek working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Mason is trying to escape the mount.
MLEJNek looking to control and managing it successfully.
MLEJNek wants to control the pace but Mason is squirming around nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mason tries to control MLEJNek's body but MLEJNek pushes him off. Mason squirms to his side and now MLEJNek has his back!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Petit MLEJNek dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

MLEJNek drags the fight down to the ground.
Mason wants to control from the top but MLEJNek keeps moving.
Mason has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Mason avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
MLEJNek trying to keep a closed guard but Mason is proving a slippery customer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
MLEJNek wants to get back to his feet but Mason is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Mason trying to control but MLEJNek is working from the bottom.
MLEJNek bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mason's guard.

MLEJNek slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Mason tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but MLEJNek presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for MLEJNek. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

Mason is looking to get to half guard.
Mason is squirming around, avoiding MLEJNek's attempts to control the action.
Mason can't escape the position.

MLEJNek stands up from mount. Strange move.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

MLEJNek feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
MLEJNek passes easily into side control. Nice work.
MLEJNek working away.
MLEJNek wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mason keeps working.
MLEJNek happy to just control the position for now.

MLEJNek decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Mason gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
MLEJNek is in close to Mason's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Mason avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
MLEJNek is stalling in the full guard.
MLEJNek pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Mason is keeping the position for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
MLEJNek stands and throws Mason's legs to the side, diving into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Petit MLEJNek showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


A head kick misses from MLEJNek.
Petit MLEJNek seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Some bone on bone action there as MLEJNek checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Mason throws a front kick aimed at MLEJNek's knee but MLEJNek avoids it well.

MLEJNek scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

MLEJNek is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mason defends it well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Mason is trying to maintain the position but MLEJNek is very close to passing his half guard.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Some bone on bone action there as MLEJNek checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Mason really is a fat lump.

MLEJNek closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

MLEJNek laying and praying for a moment but Mason takes advantage and regains half guard.

MLEJNek is looking for a kimura but Mason is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for MLEJNek to get the leverage.

Mason won't allow MLEJNek to pass to mount.
Mason is trying to maintain the position but MLEJNek is very close to passing his half guard.
MLEJNek wants to take a breather but Mason is having none of it.
MLEJNek frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Mason is just holding on here. MLEJNek manages to take his back.
MLEJNek slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Mason is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if MLEJNek gets his way!

Mason is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
MLEJNek takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mason breaks MLEJNek's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Petit MLEJNek comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got MLEJNek winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
