Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Dotson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Max Fincke!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Ben Hemmingworth and Chris Dean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Fincke as Dotson shoots in.
Dotson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Dotson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Fincke's waist but Fincke gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dotson off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Dotson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fincke fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Dotson throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Fincke counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Fincke swats away the attempt to clinch by Dotson.
Fincke misses with a head kick.
Fincke slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dotson has Fincke up against the cage in a clinch.

Fincke manages to break the clinch.
Dotson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Horrible takedown attempt by Dotson or perhaps it was just good defense by Fincke, which made it look bad.
Fincke throws a hook but Dotson avoids it easily.
Dotson throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Fincke swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Dotson tries to clinch there but Fincke circles away.
Fincke stuffs the takedown.

Fincke moves into range and clinches up with Dotson.
Fincke has a couple of punches blocked by Dotson.
Fincke throws a punch but it's blocked by Dotson.
Dotson is trying to pull guard but Fincke turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Fincke throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Dotsons head.
Fincke pushes Dotson back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Fincke is pushing Dotson up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Fincke misses with a short punch on the inside.

Fincke lands with a left to the head.
Dotson tries to break free but Fincke pushes him back against the cage.

Fincke breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Dotson lands a glancing blow to the side of Fincke's head.
Fincke catches Dotson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Fincke is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Fincke keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Dotson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Fincke swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Dotson is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Fincke stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fincke wants it to stay on the feet.
Dotson shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Fincke sprawls well. Fincke wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dotson gets slowly back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fincke throws a series of punches but Dotson avoids them all with ease.
Dotson throws a head kick that misses
and Fincke counters with a stiff right hand.
Dotson throws a leg kick but Fincke sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Dotson moves away from the strike by Fincke.

Dotson rushes Fincke and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dotson works on Fincke's body with a couple of short punches.
Dotson wants to get back to striking at distance but Fincke won't allow it.
Fincke stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Fincke working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Fincke misses with a short punch on the inside.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Max Fincke dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Fincke gets a clinch.
Dotson is looking to control Fincke's arms but Fincke gets an underhook and turns him. Now Dotson has his back to the cage.
Dotson blocks an uppercut.

Fincke's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Nice takedown defense from Fincke. No joy for Dotson on that attempt.
Dotson tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Fincke manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Fincke misses with a wild body shot.
Fincke fails in his attempt to clinch.
Dotson tries to clinch but Fincke moves away
and Fincke counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Max Fincke seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Dotson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
John Dotson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Fincke stuffs the takedown attempt from Dotson. Dotson gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Dotson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dotson tries to grapple but his opponent circles
enabling Fincke to counter with a crisp jab.
Dotson shoots in for a double leg but Fincke sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Fincke tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Dotson was well out of range. Poor timing from Fincke.
Dotson slips a jab and a cross from Fincke.
Fincke scores with a leg kick.
The fighters circle, before Fincke throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Dotson's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Fincke lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
