PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sutter Cane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Young One (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Young One was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Sutter Cane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Young One!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cane on the wrong end of a nice jab.
One throws a body punch but Cane moves out of range.
One lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
One misses with a left hand
and Cane counters with a good low kick that One was not able to check.
One lands an overhand right.
One steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Cane.
Cane thows a left - swing and a miss!
One misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Cane.
One blocks a leg kick.
One takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cane lands with a nice body kick.
One fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Cane blocks a leg kick.
Cane does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

One misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cane scores with a kick to the body.

One looks to land a left hand but Cane moved out of range nicely.
We've been told by Cane's head coaches at Kebab House that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Cane throws a body shot but no joy.
One lands a nice hook to Cane's body. Cane takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! One crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Cane - the referee stops the clock and One gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Cane. One manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
A punch lands to the side of Cane 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Cane scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
One misses with a combination
and Cane counters with a low kick, right behind One 's knee.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from One.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Cane.
One throws a hook to the side of Cane's head but Cane sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
That kick from Cane tenderised One's leg. One is trying to keep his angry face on.
One misses with a straight left.
One takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
One swings away with a body shot that misses
and Cane counters with a good low kick that One was not able to check.
One walks into a left hand.
One throws a sloppy body shot
and Cane counters with a left to the body.
One moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
One lands a nice shot that snaps Cane's head back.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
One throws a head kick but Cane moves out of range.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cane, as that shot connected.
One just misses with a punch to the body.
Cane misses with a body shot
and One counters with a left to the body.
Cane takes a swing at One's ribcage but misses.
Cane doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Cane scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Cane ducks under a wild hook from One.
One throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Cane sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Nice defenses there by One.
One tries to clinch but Cane is having none of it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
One throws a wild body kick that Cane sees coming a mile off.
One attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
One throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Cane throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
One waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Cane.
One tries to clinch but Cane moves away
and Cane counters with a good low kick that One was not able to check.
One stalks Cane and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cane's face. Cane staggers backwards, shaken.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
One doesn't manage to clinch there - Cane circles away.
One connects with a right hand. Cane shakes it off.

That was a close round but I would say that Sutter Cane will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Cane gets tackled into the cage by One. One maintains the clinch.
Cane tries to land knees in the clinch but One avoids the damage to the body.

letting Cane counter with a right hand.


It looks like Young One has been cut.
Cane lands a head kick!
One throws a body punch but Cane moves out of range.

Cane takes a jab right on the kisser.
One's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Cane lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Cane, right into the meat.

One lands a head kick!
One misses with a straight right.
One swings widly with a right hand
and Cane counters with a nice body kick.
One checks a leg kick nicely.
One fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cane manages to avoid it.
One is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cane.
Cane tries a head kick but it misses.
A jab from One misses.
One misses with a looping left.
One lands with a nice body kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cane throws a sloppy head kick
and One counters with a nice uppercut.
One misses with a straight left.
One misses the body punch
and Cane finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
One misses with a shot to the body
and Cane counters with a thumping low kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from One.
Cane has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

One misses with an uppercut. Cane saw that one coming.

One has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Cane.
One bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Cane's head.
Cane uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from One.
One lands a jab to Cane's midsection.
Sutter Cane is winning the standup battle so far.

One is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cane.

One pulls out of a head kick attempt.
One throws a half hearted mid kick.

and Cane counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

One throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Young One will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

One takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for One.
One with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Cane lands with a right to the head.
One misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Cane.
One throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Cane blocks it with crossed arms.
One looking to throw knees to the head but Cane is blocking nicely.

Cane's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Cane pushes One away with a front kick.
One misses with a low kick.
Cane throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
One takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
One misses with an uppercut. Cane saw that one coming.
One looks to score with a jab to the body but Cane is just out of range.

One misses with a hook to the body
and Cane counters with a nice body shot.
Good shot there by Cane.
One swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cane stuns One with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Cane tries to land a front kick but One steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

One throws a leg kick that is checked
and Cane counters with a nice leg kick.

and Cane counters with a nice low kick that buckles One's knee momentarily.
Cane throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent One stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Cane connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Cane is looking to wear down One with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
One takes one to the chin there.

Cane throws a good cross that connects.

and Cane counters with a head kick.
One looks to land a combination but Cane avoids it well.

Sutter Cane showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Cane has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
