The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Alvarez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Gracie counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Gracie is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Alvarez defends it well.

Gracie is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Gracie drops back looking for a leg! Alvarez is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Alvarez manages to kick Gracie off! Gracie jumps back into Alvarez's guard.

Gracie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Alvarez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Alvarez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Alvarez!

Oh but Gracie is tightening it up a little... Alvarez has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Alvarez reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Alvarez taps out! Nice BJJ there by Gracie!
