The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

De Souza bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Gordon is looking to reverse the position.
Gordon sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Gordon is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but De Souza pulls his head out easily.
Gordon throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Gordon really is a fat lump.

De Souza is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gordon defends it well.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with De Souza in particular looking to stall.
Gordon has hold of De Souza 's hands but De Souza slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gordon wants to improve his position but De Souza is controlling well.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Gordon is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

De Souza has hold of Gordon's leg, trying to break free but it's let Gordon lock up a rear naked choke! This could be big trouble! De Souza is turning an unusual color here… he's out! Gordon throws him to one side and jumps onto the cage to celebrate with his fans.
