Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chuck Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ian Rogers!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva dodges the punch combination from Rogers.
Rogers shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Silva eats them both and turns towards Rogers to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Ian Rogers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Silva closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Silva wants to stand up but Rogers is controlling the position.
Silva tries to pass to full mount but Rogers defends it.
Rogers wants to get back to full guard.

Silva is looking for a kimura here.
Silva trying to control the action but Rogers is working from the bottom.

Silva is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rogers doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Silva.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Silva slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Silva goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Rogers rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Silva's guard! Nice work there by Rogers!

Rogers changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Silva looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Rogers goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Silva has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Rogers but great work by Silva.

Silva is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Rogers is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Silva tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Silva has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Silva is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Rogers has escaped the position, nice work there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Silva looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Silva wants to control but Rogers is keeping him busy.

Silva seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rogers does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Rogers has his foot on Silva's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Silva works his way back into a safe position though.

Silva tries to free his leg and advance position but Rogers is retaining full guard.
Rogers has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Silva takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Rogers lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Rogers.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Silva closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ian Rogers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Rogers ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rogers no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Silva tries to kick Rogers off but Rogers keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Silva is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rogers pulls his head out easily.

Well Rogers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
