Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Maxwell Rubin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pat O Brien (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maxwell Rubin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pat O Brien!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Eddie Farnsworth and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rubin throws a body kick that misses.
O Brien cracks Rubin with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
O Brien slips a straight right by Rubin.
O Brien chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rubin can pounce on him.
Rubin has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Rubin there as he acknowledges the shot.
O Brien fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rubin manages to avoid it.
O Brien rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rubin moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rubin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
O Brien moves out of range of the body kick from Rubin.
Rubin throws a nice outside leg kick.
O Brien ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
O Brien has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Rubin.
O Brien tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rubin was well out of range. Poor timing from O Brien.
Rubin throws a front kick aimed at O Brien's knee but O Brien avoids it well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Rubin.
O Brien listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

O Brien misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rubin.
Pat O Brien is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rubin throws an off balance right hand
and O Brien counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Rubin shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rubin showed some decent athleticism there.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Rubin is controlling the pace.
O Brien is looking for a sweep. Rubin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Nice strikes from Rubin there.
Rubin prevents O Brien from improving his position.
O Brien keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
O Brien wants to improve his position but Rubin is controlling well.

Rubin throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
O Brien controlling the position well.

Rubin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Rubin looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

O Brien wants to improve his position but Rubin is controlling well.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Rubin throws a nice inside leg kick.
Rubin throws a leg kick which misses O Brien's front leg but catches the back leg as O Brien tries to avoid it.
Rubin pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
O Brien looks to land a combination. Rubin sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
O Brien throws an off balance right hand

and Rubin counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rubin.
Rubin engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Rubin forces his way into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
O Brien is trying to control but Rubin passes into side control!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rubin creates some space and throws a big elbow, but O Brien sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
O Brien avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Rubin.
Rubin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
O Brien really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rubin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Rubin wants to lay and pray for a moment but O Brien keeps working.

Rubin has knee on belly and moves into mount.
O Brien keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
O Brien is in a horrible position here. Rubin smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Rubin thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Rubin controlling his opponent.
O Brien is desperately trying to improve his position but Rubin has a good base and remains in mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rubin throws some wild stikes that O Brien manages to avoid easily.
Maxwell Rubin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
O Brien tries to get back to half guard but can't.
O Brien wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Rubin.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
O Brien is trying to escape the mount.
Rubin is landing with some decent strikes but O Brien is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Rubin thowing shots but they're missing.
O Brien has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Rubin tries to control but O Brien wriggling away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rubin is really struggling to control O Brien but he's trying to hold on to the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Maxwell Rubin dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


O Brien throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rubin sees it coming and avoids it easily.
O Brien with a body punch. A glancing blow.
O Brien looks to land a left hand but Rubin moved out of range nicely.
O Brien lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
O Brien closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Rubin slips under a jab.
O Brien throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Rubin closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. O Brien quickly recovers to half guard.
O Brien is staying active underneath Rubin, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Nice strikes from Rubin there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

O Brien keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Rubin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
O Brien is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Rubin is looking for a kimura here.
Rubin moves nicely into side control.

O Brien is not content to let Rubin control the position.
Rubin throws a strike aimed at the side of O Brien's head but O Brien avoids it well.
Pat O Brien has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Rubin has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for O Brien!
O Brien wants to hold on but Rubin pushes him away.
Rubin controlling from the full mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rubin landing punches.
O Brien tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Rubin sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
O Brien can't escape the position.
Maxwell Rubin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

And that's the end of the fight!
Maxwell Rubin showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rubin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
