PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Kerrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Fincke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Kerrow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Fincke!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick from Fincke misses.
Kerrow staying out of range there.
Horrible takedown attempt by Kerrow or perhaps it was just good defense by Fincke, which made it look bad.
Fincke avoids the head kick by Kerrow.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fincke looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Fincke tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
The crowd cheers as Fincke lands an impressive looking overhand right. Kerrow doesn't seem phased though.
Fincke scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Kerrow takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Fincke tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Fincke's jab looks to have found its range, popping Kerrow under the eye.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Fincke stuffs the takedown attempt from Kerrow. Kerrow gets slowly back to his feet.

Kerrow closes the distance and clinches.
Fincke has a couple of punches blocked by Kerrow.
Fincke misses with a punch on the inside.
Fincke is pressed up against the cage. Kerrow has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Fincke down to the mat. Fincke avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Daniel Kerrow. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kerrow shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kerrow showed some decent athleticism there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kerrow tries to stand and escape but Fincke is controlling the position.

Fincke is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Max Fincke hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Fincke counters with a straight right hand.
Fincke connects with a crisp jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kerrow closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fincke did well to prevent Kerrow getting side control.

Kerrow is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kerrow takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Fincke throws a hook but Kerrow avoids it easily.
Kerrow avoids the head kick by Fincke.
Kerrow closes the distance and clinches up with Fincke, looking for a takedown. Kerrow pushes Fincke against the cage but Fincke circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Fincke stuffs the takedown attempt from Kerrow. Kerrow gets slowly back to his feet.
Kerrow is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Max Fincke dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Kerrow changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fincke looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Fincke is trying to improve his position.
Kerrow remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Kerrow tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kerrow has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Kerrow is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Fincke will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Kerrow decides to stand back up. Kerrow steps back and let's Fincke get back to his feet.
Fincke slaps away a takedown attempt from Kerrow, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kerrow doesn't manage to clinch there - Fincke circles away.
Fincke lands with a shot to the body.
Fincke has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Kerrow needs to keep his hands up - Fincke had a free shot at his head there.

It looks like Daniel Kerrow has been cut.

and Fincke counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kerrow looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Fincke might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That was a close second round but I would say that Daniel Kerrow will probably get the nod.
