Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Fujiyama Akagono!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Kenichi Hosakawa and Tatsuya Matsuyama.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Akagono is defended easily by Maxiq.

Akagono shoots in but Maxiq avoids the takedown attempt easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Akagono shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Maxiq as he avoids it easily.
Silvean Maxiq has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fujiyama Akagono.
Akagono closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Akagono lands in his opponent's guard.

Akagono unloads with some shots from mount but Maxiq bucks and avoids them well.

Akagono works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Akagono wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Maxiq, who protects the arm well.
Maxiq wants to get back to his feet but Akagono drags him back down.

Akagono is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
